Beth Crocker secures acquittal of cocaine courier who makes admissions in interview

Beth Crocker secured the unanimous acquittal of a her client charged with possession with intent to supply 5 kilos of cocaine.  Following undercover police surveillance he was arrested driving away from an exhange where he had just been given the drugs.  When asked by police at the roadside what was in the box he told them ‘I’m guessing it’s coke’.  In interview he admitted thinking that it was cocaine at the time that he collected the box.

At trial the defendant explained that he was shocked and exhausted during his interview and did not mean what he said.  The jury at the Central Criminal Court returned its unanimous not guilty verdict in under 40 minutes.
