Martin Rutherford QC and Toby Long secure acquittal of defendant charged with attempted murder after four week trial in Leicester

By March 27, 2017No Comments

The Crown alleged that defendant was involved in the dousing in pure sulphuric acid of a sleeping man in a love triangle gone wrong.  The prosecution could show the defendant had purchased the acid, tested its effectiveness on raw meat, talked to individuals about a planned acid attack, was very jealous of the victim (his love rival) and was present at the scene of the attack albeit banned from attending there by a Restraining Order.  The defendant was acquitted, his co-defendant girlfriend is now serving life imprisonment.
