Loaded sawn off shotgun acquittal

Rory Field, instructed by Achom & Partners, successfully defended Mr D, who was accused of possession of a loaded sawn off shot gun, found hidden under the bath in a flat he was alleged to be staying in and to control. The Crown relied heavily on communications data, video data and forensic evidence. Mr D’s fingerprints were found on bags containing cannabis recovered from beside the shotgun under the bath. After careful analysis by the defence of the video, fingerprint and DNA evidence and of the particular circumstances around the case, not guilty verdicts were entered both on the shotgun and on possession with intent to supply the cannabis. Mr D, who had been on remand for 8 months, was immediately released to the delight of his waiting family and friends.
