Four members of chambers have started defending a serious case of people smuggling which is being heard at Chelmsford Crown Court. Martin Rutherford QC leads John Hunter represent the first defendant and Jeremy Lynn leads John Waller for the second. It is alleged by the Crown that the defendants were the masterminds behind the criminal enterprise to smuggle 69 Albanian’s aboard the ship Svanic in November 2020.
