After a 7 day trial at Wood Green Crown court, Stephen Akinsanya successfully defends a defendant charged with 7 counts, including witness intimidation, intentional strangulation. The jury returned unanimous not guilty verdicts and the prosecution, rightly did not seek a retrial on count 1 , where the jury were unable to reach a verdict. These cases are difficult to defend ,in light of the rightly concerns over what is considered controlling and coercive behaviour. A forensic look at the relationship between the individuals is important for a jury to consider before reaching the correct verdict.
Stephen was instructed by Ziba Akarcay at ZA Law Consultancy.
