A guest of Julia Heise, the former President of the German Bar Association, Tana heard from fellow lawyers that have faced threats including from democratic governments for simply carrying out their role in giving effect to the law. Particularly lawyers representing immigrants are being targeted in the name of populism. The effects of political authoritarianism in the US, the Russian invasion of Ukraine and inaccurate media coverage were topics of debate.
