Tana Adkin KC, leading Pat Lloyd and instructed by SMQ Legal Services were successful in defending Eugen Coman charged with Murder. A plea to Manslaughter on the grounds of Diminished Responsibility was rejected by the Prosecution however the jury agreed with the Defence that Mr. Coman was suffering from undiagnosed paranoid schizophrenia at the time of the killing in October 2021.
Despite coming to the attention of police for a serious assault at the start of the Covid Lockdown and for carrying a knife in December 2020 Mr. Coman remained undiagnosed and untreated into 2021 when he killed his housemate. He is currently undergoing treatment in a psychiatric unit and awaits sentence.
