Will Paynter secures acquittal following alleged Father’s Day attack on father by his son.

Will Paynter, instructed by Simran Jagdev of Hollingsworth Edwards, secure the acquittal of their defendant, who was charged with multiple charges of violence, including Section 18 GBH. The incident occurred on Father’s Day when the defendant is alleged to have first struck his father over the head with a wine bottle, rendering him unconscious, and then repeatedly stamped on his head before then assaulting his father’s long-term partner, who was trying to halt the attack.

The defence team curated and executed a plan that highlighted inconsistencies in the witnesses’ accounts, raising the possibility that the injuries occurred after the defendant had left the property. During the cross-examination of the father and his partner, the defence team further highlighted these differences, and the jury returned a verdict of not guilty, thereby preserving the defendant’s reputation.
