The defendant (‘RA’) was found by police hiding on a driveway armed with gloves and a balaclava and described as sweating, out of breath, and nervous. The weapon was found discarded under a trailer on the driveway and had his fingerprint on it.
The prosecution alleged that the defendant was one of a number of men who had run from the police just moments before.
The defendant initially denied all knowledge of the gun but upon being presented with the fingerprint evidence stated that he had found it.
The jury returned it’s unanimous verdict at Woolwich Crown Court.
