YS was arrested for PWITS x2 in November committed whilst on bail for the same offence a few months earlier in April. He was tried together on both sets of matters. YS’ defence was that of Modern Slavery to both sets of matters. Recent caselaw meant that an expert report could only be adduced in very small part however the defence were able to put forward some notes for guidance on how the jury should approach the issue.
The jury acquitted YS of the second set of matters and, after considering defence representations, the Crown offered no evidence on the remaining matter
