No Further Action Against Prominent Boxing Trainer in Nick Evans Case.

By May 1, 2025No Comments

Nick Evans, instructed by Aamer Rathor at Gatsby Law, successfully persuades the CPS to drop the charge of possessing an offensive weapon against their client.

The charges stem from the defendant, a renowned boxing trainer with an IBF Champion in his stable, being stopped at Gatwick Airport while carrying a Kubotan with a concealed knife.

The Kubotan may appear as an innocuous key fob to the untrained eye. However, in some jurisdictions, including the UK, it is considered an offensive weapon. The defence team set out their client’s defence in full at a very early stage of the proceedings. This included obtaining and serving on the CPS, statements from elite members of the boxing world stating the knife is used to remove a boxer’s wrap post-fight.

The CPS, having reviewed the defence case, conceded that their client had a good reason for possessing the Kubotan. Verdicts of not guilty were entered by the court. Their client walked free to continue training boxers at the highest level.
