Following cross-examination of the complainant, who was 14 years of age at the time of the alleged incidents, by Rupert under the section 28 procedure in April 2021, and then a 4 day trial which commenced on 6th February and concluded on 9th February 2023 at Lewes Crown Court, Rupert’s client was unanimously acquitted of all three counts, notwithstanding the fact that the Crown had adduced in evidence Facebook messages that inferred that the Defendant had confessed to sexual activity with a child within those messages.
