Following a trial at Harrow Crown Court, the defendant was acquitted of violent disorder by a jury. The defendant was one of a number of fans who responded to a male attacking passers-by with both pepper spray and physical violence at the finals of the Euro 2020 competition. The defendant stepped in to assist an elderly male who was assaulted by the attacker, confronting the attacker about his behaviour before being attacked himself. The defendant raised self defence in trial and the case involved close analysis of CCTV evidence and challenging legal argument regarding the admissibility of the bad character of witnesses. The defendant was one of 3 defendants acquitted from the 9 originally indicted.
