After two months defending at Derby Crown Court, Beth Crocker secured the only acquittal in a four defendant trial dominated by a fierce ‘cut throat’ defence. The defendants were charged with conspiring to defraud Premier League football clubs by obtaining invoices for advertising space on behalf of a bogus client, in order to reclaim VAT totalling £1.9 million. The remaining defendants will be sentenced next month.
