Clare Dowse’s young client has been acquitted of charges of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply, after successfully using the defence under s45 of the Modern Slavery Act to show how he had been groomed and trafficked into the ‘county lines’ world whilst a child in care.

The defence included presenting evidence about the operation of grooming and trafficking gangs from one of the country’s foremost experts on the topic, Dr Craig Barlow.

Clare was instructed by Anthony Branley and Rumit Shah of Galbraith Branley, North Finchley.
