James Lofthouse, instructed by CPS SE Complex Casework Unit as sole prosecution counsel, secured a conviction for murder at Lewes CC. The Defendant and his victim were partners who also ran the Battle Tackle fishing equipment shops. Having denied murder on the basis of loss of control, and following the service of James’s opening note the day before trial, the Defendant, represented by an experienced QC, pleaded guilty on the day of trial.
