Michael Hillman secures acquittal in rape re-trial

By May 2, 2018No Comments

The defendant was charged with attempting to rape his then girlfriend. During the course of their relationship and spanning the date of the alleged rape the defendant had been convicted of assaulting the complainant on 5 separate occasions. Accordingly the bad character material in this case was both admissible and highly prejudicial.

In the first four day trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court the jury were unable to agree on a verdict. The defendant was found not guilty following a four day trial in April this year.

Michael was instructed by Ann Rushton of Traymans Solicitors.
