Rupert’s client was an 82 year old man indicted, firstly, with a variety of serious sexual assaults upon an 11 year old boy in the 1960s; and then, a generation later, with similarly serious sexual misconduct in respect of a 7 year old girl between 2004 and 2006. Following an 8 day trial at Guildford Crown Court during which the jury heard other evidence suggesting that the defendant was also someone with a violent disposition, the jury unanimously acquitted upon all 11 counts.
