Anoushka Twining, instructed by Jonathan Salter of Duncan Lewis, secured two unanimous and 4 majority verdicts in a six count case covering an indictment period of over 18 months.
The defendant’s case was that the complainant was the person defrauding retailers and then their own banks by making false claims and blaming the defendant for these transactions. The defence case was advanced through the forensic analysis of banking statements, insurance claims, and contemporaneous fraud claims made by the complainant. The defendant also put the case that the complainant had poisoned his own orange juice in an attempt to ensure police would charge the defendant for the frauds which they had hitherto failed to do.
