Helen Dawson was instructed by Aamar Rathor of Gatsby Law, to represent their client ‘NPP’, who was stopped by the Police whilst travelling through the airport carrying £32, 000 in cash, in various currencies. The Police believed NPP was involved in a money laundering operation, with suspected links to funding political instability and was regularly moving cash through international borders.
After a two-day contested cash forfeiture hearing, involving live witnesses from other jurisdictions, the Court refused the application for forfeiture and ordered the monies to be returned to Helen’s client, in full.
