Tim Banks appeared at the Birmingham Crown court to represent a client “S” charged with Conspiracy to Possess a Firearm with Intent to cause fear of violence.

A civil dispute had arisen between various Directors of two National construction companies. The prosecution alleged that one of the Directors, who was owed in excess of £10 million, started a sustained campaign of serious violence and intimidation against some of the employees of the other company. There were five defendants in the trial which lasted five weeks.
Tim’s client “S” was said to have been contacted in order to provide a “hitman”. Two homes had been targeted with live ammunition being discharged at each address during the early hours. The case against S relied upon the interpretation of numerous text messages. Some messages referred to “ painting” and “ spraying”. The Crown suggested these words had a sinister meaning.

Following a powerful and convincing closing speech S was acquitted.

Tim was instructed by GQS Solicitors.
