Beth Crocker represented KT, a local business owner, accused of playing his part in a conspiracy to defraud the London Borough of Southwark. Funds were being syphoned off by a corrupt employee at Southwark and credited to the business rates accounts of business owners in exchange for cash. Further sums were stolen from the Council and paid into defendants bank accounts. The investigation of the fraud by the London Borough of Southwark lasted a number of years. The trial at Woolwich Crown Court lasted 3 weeks before the jury unanimously acquitted KT.
