Markus Findlay secures suspended sentence in Class A drug supply case

By October 6, 2023No Comments

Markus Findlay has secured a suspended sentence for a client convicted of supplying Class A drugs (heroin and crack cocaine) in the West Sussex area.

The client, who initially faced an 8-count indictment, was arrested by police in April 2021 in a car containing the drugs and several weapons, including a machete and a stun gun.

The Prosecution suggested that according to the sentencing guidelines, these offences carried a starting point of 4.5 years in custody based on his “significant role” in the operation. Markus persuaded the Court to step outside of the guidelines and impose a community-based sentence due to the delay in bringing the matter to Court (over 2 years), his lack of maturity by virtue of his age, and the current issue of overcrowding in UK prisons.

Her Honour Judge Waddicor, sitting at Lewes Crown Court, informed the client that he had “escaped immediate custody by a very narrow margin”.

Markus was instructed by Geoff White Solicitors.
