The trial, which lasted 6 days, took place in a socially distanced courtroom at Guildford Crown Court 3 ½ years after the allegations were made.

The jury was required to deliberate upon three counts of sexual activity with a child, the trial judge having acceded to a submission of no case to answer at half time in relation to a further count of causing a child to engage in sexual activity.

It was alleged that the defendant cupped the 14 year old complainant’s buttocks, kissed him and performed oral sex on him. Rupert eloquently highlighted the number of inconsistencies within the Crown’s case.

The jury deliberated for a short period of time before they acquitted the Defendant unanimously on all three remaining counts.

Rupert was instructed by Shelley Dell at Cowans Solicitors.
