Ed Butler secured unanimous not guilty verdicts for his client, an advanced clinical practitioner, who had been charged with five counts of sexual assault against three patients. Two recent complainants had alleged that during the course of consultations the defendant had performed intimate examinations that were not clinically justified and had been for a sexual purpose. These complaints led the prosecution to re-open an investigation in to an allegation from ten years previously by another former patient that was not prosecuted at the time. Today the jury returned not guilty verdicts on all five counts after just under eight hours of deliberation.
