Robert Evans, instructed by David Siebler of CPS London South, prosecuted a four-week trial in which the jury heard circumstantial evidence linking Davis Davanni-Agbepa (a music recording artist who had worked with Cardi B) and Kaius James-Palmer (a former footballer) to an aggravated burglary/home invasion robbery in February 2024.

The defendants and their accomplices drove from west London to Epsom to carry out the offence believing there was £100,000 worth of Crypto at the address. Having learned en route that the target address was likely to have 6 or 7 people in it after kidnapping one of the residents, they contacted accomplices to seek “back up” to carry out the offence. Two carloads of criminals later arrived at the target address. The defendants and their accomplices entered wearing masks, with hoods up and with guns drawn and knives on display. They intimidated, dominated, and overpowered the people inside the address. The occupants were herded to the kitchen where some were handcuffed, and another was stabbed in the head.  The occupants were told not to look at the faces of the defendants and their accomplices. When one of the occupants did look up, he was punched in the head using a knuckle duster. They then left with several stolen items.  Of all those present in the address, only one witness was prepared to make a statement, such was the effectiveness of the violence and intimidation of the defendants and their accomplices.

The defendants were linked to the offence by a collection of circumstantial evidence including cellsite, CCTV, phones, 999 recordings, stolen goods, and an eye-witness account of actions by the masked men.

At sentencing, the Judge handed down periods of 10 years and 9 years respectively.
